I recently came across this site called the natural haven, which is a blog that discusses all things on fashion and beauty for the natural community. The natural haven magazine seems pretty new but not lacking in anything when it comes to posh-ness, style and sensibility.  W hen I first read through the online natural magazine mainly catered the African American community I was greatly impressed. They cover a broad range of topics from hair, eating and lifestyle which is right up my alley.

That is why I am posting here, because I feel that you would enjoy the online natural living magazine just as much as I have:)

Would love to know what you think about it!

Products I’ve Used This Past Year

I have received a ton of emails of people wanting to know what products I have used on my hair through out the past year.  Although I have used on a ton of products there are a couple that have been my staple go to products.  Going natural as regards my hair has been learning process and I continue to learn new things all the time about my hair. In which I quickly learn what works and what does not work for my hair.

I'm not one to keep using something just because I bought it and my hair does not like it,  I'll either give it away or something.

However, I do continue to come back time and time again to a few couple of products mentioned in the video below.

Which are:

A new shampoo that I am trying is the Milcreek Naturals Heena shampoo for luster and shine. Having a  4c hair type my hair tends to lack shine, so I decided to give this one shampoo a try and so far I am pleased.

Raw Milk Raid in California – Huh?

Early this August the raw-some food health food store a homegrown a local natural living co-op, which produces organic pesticide free real food. Was raided and in a mob style fashion by policeman coming in as if someone had been held hostage. They poured out all of the milk and destroyed the cheese completely.

This is so crazy to me, because the owner was arrested, not read his rights then taken to jail on a 135,000 bond. Not able to get out unless he has the full amount.

When does selling selling your own food become a crime? When does living in America a place of free enterprise become a crime? When does choosing to eat the sort of food you choose to eat become not a god given human right?

I ask these things because that is what is now happening in America. Big government and lobbyist for the FDA are on the hunt to put a stop to these local homegrown real food stores.

Charging that no food should be sold unless regulated by them, and that we should be forced to eat only fake, gmo laden processed food. This is truly a crime only about money and the shift of the country demanding more real food and not fake food that could potentially in the long run kill us.

Real Food is on the rise and here to stay, in fact I have a post about real food here if you want to learn more about it.

Is this crazy or what!

The Standard of Beauty???

So what really is the true standard of beauty and who are the ones that make the set of rules. When I saw this video it sort of reminded me of my modeling days. I modeled  for a short time to quickly realize how grueling the industry could be towards those of another race. We all see the commercials that have the token black girls, the shows with an all white cast and one black person, or the kiddie shows oh, wait there are hardly any black children cartoons.

I love how the one woman said there is a hidden racism in the fashion industry, with all the scouters looking for a twiggy “Barbie Girl Look a like” showing that it is only way to sell their products.

I truly do believe that the industry are not full of a whole bunch of racist people that insist on not hiring black fashion models women and men but that they feel stuck to a old school thinking that only light fair skin is what sells.

Hey, I'm no racist  fact all my kids are bi-racial, however I love fashion and to be able to see a documentary that shows the industry in its true light surely had my thoughts ticking again………

So what do you think about the whole issue?
