You know sometimes when the going gets tough the tough gets going, that is how some people feel when it comes to dealing with certain situations. However that situation when it comes to hair can cause many to give up easy and not stick through the full course of growing their hair out in its natural state. I admit for  many years off and on I did the same thing, and when you are able to come to a point and realize how beautiful your hair is. And the many textures out their that make our hair so unique, so powerful, so glorious. You will be able to see the true crown of glory that god has surely given us, and that will allow you to fully embrace who you are to the fullest.

So why not on your journey take some time to see great hair shots of women that are doing this well and embracing the kinks to fullest. Many think that our hair if it is kinky that it can only do a limited amount of things, but that can only be further from the truth because our hair can do a great  many things and than some.

Check out these beauties!

These two looks invoke a feeling of coolness, sensuality and confidence in themselves not to mention the old school flash dance look with the shirt coming down on the shoulder. If you ever seen flash dance the movie you will know what I am talking about. The first one with the hair swept to the side and that cream jacket is just lovely.

You know natural hair is so cool and funky it gives so much more personality to the individual and invokes a sense of sensuality at least in my opinion it does.  I am learning as I go in the process and being able to see beautiful pics of women rocking it lets you know just how cool rocking natural black hair can really be.

Motivations For Getting In Shape: Part Two

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure for more Info.

In part one of motivations to get in shape we discussed some of the root issues around trying to lose weight and why many fail. I urge you to look with in yourself first to see if you are really ready to get healthy because trust me if you are not ready if wont work. Look around your self externally to see if the circumstances around you are causing you to have stress which can lead to many bad habits like not working out and poor eating habits.

What I mean by externally is your job, things going on in life with your family, financial issues all these things can cause us to eat in a manner that is not beneficial for our bodies.  That way you can begin to take steps to try to ease some of the stress so that you can live a more fulfilling life.

According to fitness statistics more than 60% of Americans are not getting the basic exercise that they need to stay healthy and more than 25% are not even doing anything at all. Webmed.com says that exercising not only boosts your brain power (thinking ability), it increases your ability to melt away fat and gives you long hours of increased energy for a small amount of work

Did you know that for every 1lb of muscle that you gain it burns off an extra 50 calories a day so if you gain one pound of muscle a week for a month your body will have a higher metabolism and burn up to an extra 200 calories a month just by doing nothing.  Who wouldn't want to do that right, imagine adding on more tone and defined muscle a week how much you could be burning in resting state.

Cool Huh!

Well enough of my rambling, you are probably wondering what steps you should take to get you on the road to better health so that you can start adding on some toned defined muscles.

  • The first thing as I said before is to do some internal looking to see if you are really ready because if you are not it just wont work.
  • Second you need to realize that fitness and getting in shape is a lifestyle change.
  • Third not everyone body is built up same, you have to make your body the best that it can be and not the best it could be to look like someone else. Remember your motives when getting healthy its about you and your health not for some short term fantasy.
  • Take small steps and don't try to  change everything at once or else you will just beat your self and think that you have failed. Small steps are big steps in the right direction!!!
  • Begin to fill your environment that is your home with fitness DVDs, workout equipment and even workout clothes. When y0u have these things in your environment it will inspire your to work out at home when you don't have time to get out.

These are  some quick steps that you can begin to take to get you in the right direction of having the mental mindset it takes to change your health for the better.

Motivation For Getting In Shape: Part One

You know there are a lot of ways to get healthy and being a mom of four and able to keep a decent figure. I think I tend to know a little bit about what it takes to stay fit and get in shape in the quickest amount of time. getting in shape fastHowever what gets me is that many people are always about the quick fix and the shortest way possible it takes to lose weight, but don’t think about what it takes to keep it off.

Almost 10 years ago, I use to be a personal trainer; I worked in golds gym at the front desk and would train my friends and family from time to time. Since I was small I could remember all I ever thought about was health and fitness and eating the best things that were good for my body.

That is why I here on my site I will discuss very frequently what it takes to get in shape, how to stay in shape and the mental attitude that goes along with it. Losing weight is not something that is only done to look good, becoming a better you is all about a lifestyle change that should be taken into consideration. With the country in state of obesity shouldn’t we take some time to care about ourselves, and that begins with small steps, step by step. But the first thing we could all start with is our eating habits.

Everything that we take in goes into our body and affects us physically, mentally and believe it or not emotionally, I believe our bodies are centered around our center whole being and when anything upsets that natural rhythm it can affect our bodies In a lot different ways. This can show in

• Obesity

• Stress on our bodies and skin

• Energy levels

• Hormones especially in women

Our bodies when not taken care of properly will show off in a great many ways alerting us to the dangers that we need to take. To change how we are taking care of ourselves.

My motto is and always is:

“Living Healthy and Losing Weight is more of a lifestyle change than anything else”. ~ Lilly Ashe

So What Are some ways that you can start changing your habits and kicking into high gear to start being a better you more mentally, physically, and yes even emotionally.

Do you Know Who You Are?

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure for more Info.

I ran across this video a while back and still down to this day it continues to run through my head, and since I am starting this blog to bring to light, the true beauty that is within each and everyone on of us.  Coming from a  town that I grew up in at the time my neighborhood was mostly white, my friends were all of another race and now my husband and that of my family is mostly mixed race. Although I do not look it, we all have some sort of mixed gene pool in us somewhere down the line.

Which leads to the question do you really know who you are?

After much self discovery and years of being called black white girl, and I have to admit I even struggled sometimes when it came to having relationships with people of the same race as me. At the time I was here this black girl that liked rock music, listened to classical and despised rap, but could pop drop and lock it out of this world.

So who am is the question that I dealt with for years and now my question has been answered. But I feel that even though now in a time where the mainstream is more socially acceptable  and to like rock music is okay (even though you are black). And even with a black president we can see times a changing…..

However, many of our young black youths particularly women still deal with the issue of inferiority to those of another race when it comes down to our hair. Yeah my hair is kinky, yeah it takes longer to do the rest and requires extra attention. But that is only because it is extra special.

I am not saying that to relax  your hair is bad, but to each his own and I did so for years off and on. But whenever my hair was in its natural state, it grew quicker and longer faster. (because I was retaining length.)

But many of us our not embracing our true self's, we keep turning to the creamy crack for a quick fix or the over counter medicine of luxurious length. Hiding behind or masking what we want to achieve and many have achieved that.

This blog is not down our culture but to bring to light the under talked about complex that lies in our hair, the curls and kinks that hinder us doing the one thing we all have thought about or trying to do. Embrace who we truly are kinks, curls, coily and all.

Come with me on my Journey as I go Back to My natural State and achieve lengths I only thought  I could in a dream………………..
