Our Cheap Daytona Beach Resort Stay !

This past weekend the family and I got a chance to get away this weekend and spend some time with each other. Which was very much needed after coming off a very long week, and also being that it was the end of spring break for the kiddo's. To top it off we were not able to go anywhere during the week except  the backyard pool.  Which is given during the spring and summer time here at our house.

My family and I love to travel but since my husbands car accident this time last year money has been tight and really has us counting our pennies down to the last dollar, just to save a few.  However, that is a whole different topic all in it self.

I stay in Central Florida so its no surprise that the beach is not that far away for me to just pack up and head to the beach for a day and drive back home. However, it is much more fun we you can plan it out and drive up there and stay on the beach. Eat some dinner, take the kiddo's to breakfast and just lounge by the pool! Better yet when you can walk along the shore of the beach and do some natural Earthing(picking up all on those electromagnetic energy 😉 )

You can learn more about that by reading the book. 😉

We had a convention this weekend that we went to right in Daytona, Beach Fl so it was the perfect time to pack up and just stay the night. I had to find a hotel room at the last moment, however. Which is hard since it is still spring break for the next couple of weeks. This past weekend trying to find a room for a Saturday night stay was sooo hard.

To say the least……;-(

At the last moment when I was about to give up, while I was looking on Booking.com I was able to find a room. That would accommodate a family of 6. When you have a large family you need a suite with a kitchen, A pull-out bed at least double beds. We usually get two-room suites when staying more than three days somewhere.

But for times like this when you only want to stay a night or two, and in a pinch, anything will do.

We lucked out on Perrys Ocean Side Beach Resort in Daytona, Beach Florida.  Perry's Ocean Side Beach Resort was great! Very family friendly with a breakfast diner right next door with affordable prices. All though in the suite itself you will have a kitchen with a dinette set.

There is even a beach store and grocery store right across the street directly in front the resort. Perry's has two large clean pools, a Tiki Bar and even a kiddie pool! Plenty of patio furniture with grills located outside facing the beach for you to grill with your family.

We were a little nervous staying here at fist since it was last minute planning. However, I will say since it is so family friendly and spacious and I know that it will be a spot we will return to time and time again.

If you want to pack up and stay at a Daytona beach kid friendly Resorts , than Perry's is a spot you might want to look at in Daytona, Beach Fl.

Our total Stay was less than 230.00 for the night, which is not bad since everything was booked and it is Spring Break!

Greek Feta Pizza and Infused Pineapple Green Tea!

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure for more Info.

I had the chance to visit Infused Tea in College Park, a hip cool little subdivision in Orlando, Fl, which is where I grew up. In fact I went to school during my highschool years pretty close to here. Well this spot has totally been doing a lot of revamping lately and a ton of cute little eco-friendly, vegan, organic foodie spots have been opening up around here. This side of town is so cool for its 1950's sort of vibe while it continues to make it modern but still hold on to the traditional essence of College Park.

Well,  I decided to try out their Greek Feta Pizza and Infused Pineapple Green Tea it was so delicious. I'm pretty bia's when it comes to little spots that serve tea and vegan food. I'm a foodie! I'll eat just about anything that is made with the right ingredients and will not hurt my figure.  😉

My husband was the one that put me op on the place, I mentioned it to him a while back but never had the chance to stop by their, even though its right next to the car lot that we own.  Go figure, right.

Look at how good this pizza looks with it roma tomatoes, olives, feta cheese and green salad with balsamic dressing, perfect right on top with the greek feta pizza.

Hmmm…..Good Stuff!

You Got This!

Okay, so I was sitting here and thinking about life, thinking about  friends, and just thinking about life in general. I just wanted to take some time and just reflect on how us as moms always seem to pull through. Its as if we are a built of stone or something and never breakdown.

Sometimes I wonder why I was made so strong, to go through as many things as I have gone through in my life. Why am I like a jewel in the Ruff still in need of a little bit of molding, that seems to change and and change and never can seem to get to the point where I want to be. Why am I so patient, why am I so loving, why am I secure yet still insecure. Why am tall than yet still feel small, why am all theses things and yet cannot still master that one thing.

Yet, I'm here and at this very moment that's all I can be. A mother, a friend,  a lover, a nurturer, caretaker, teacher and all that need be.

Than when I saw this video I thought it was so cute, to showcase that we as women deal with things, all different things yet we got this! On a emotional level, spiritual level, physical level. You know what we got this.

So when ever you feel like you need someone to talk to and that the world is lying on your shoulder. Remember just one thing. YouGotthis!

DIY: Quick and Healthy Homemade mayonnaise recipe

healthy homemade mayo

I have to admit it! I finally have been able to master the technique of healthy homemade Mayonnaise.  Making and attempting to make mayo has always been quite a tricky thing for me.  The one reason I think I always seemed to never get it quite right was because I was using a food processor and trying to make it really slow.  When it comes to cooking, I really don't have a lot of patience to make things that require tedious handling. Such as dripping the oil into processor really, really slow.

I mean really, who wants to do that?

The technique that I use requires that you use a large  glass jar, wide mouth so that you are able to stick the emulsifier stick  blender in.   The one that I use is the Hamilton  Stick Blender. I only use a small amount of ingredients and not much is required at all.

  • 1 egg ( I use one egg, because I like to make fresh batches frequently) You can also add some whey to it, so it can lost longer and give it  a gut friendly fermented on effect on  your health.)
  • I use about a 3 teaspoons of lemon juice no seeds.
  • 2-3 teaspoons of salt ( fine ground)
  • You can add some digon mustard, but that would be up to you.
  • 1 cup of Oil I like to use a extra light tasting olive oil.

The thing I like to do is make sure I use a room temperature egg, that I get straight from the farm. I don't trust big companies when it comes to quality eggs, not only because of germs but mainly because of  how they handle the chickens and what they feed them.

Buying eggs from a farm will give tens times more nutrients.  Check out this Video if you want more info.

Anyhow, the  next thing I do is  I pour the egg into the jar, with the cup oil, lemon juice and salt.   I wait a couple of minutes until all the oil has had a chance to float to the top, and the egg is on the bottom.  I place the stick blender in the jar all the way to the bottom. I turn on the blender and keep it in place and blend until it starts getting thicker. Really fast you will see the mayonnaise rise to the top. Slowly raise the blender out an blend more if needed.

There you go,  simple quick homemade  Mayonnaise!

I have a 4B Hair Texture And I Hate It!………

” I have a 4b hair texture and I hate It!”….

fro week pic one

This is one of the comments  I got this week, which was pretty much telling me that she hates having a 4b hair texture. Mainly because she has not been able to master her texture and get it under control with no frizz.  She works a lot and needs to have her hair groomed on  a daily basis.  We all know that yes, having a type 4 hair texture can be a bit much to deal with if you have not learned your hair type  and more so if your like me and I am not good with styles and can hardly braid.   I highly recommend that everyone read If You Love It , It Will Grow!  to get to know your hair type and what you can do to remedy the problems.

I would love to know what you think and if you have any ideas that would help her out in the comments below?

I have 4b hair texture and I have to honestly say I hate it.  I have tried many different products and recipes that just don’t work for my hair. Twist outs turn out frizzy no matter what I use. My ends are the driest and most difficult part of my hair. Conditioners do not penetrate my hair. Instead they just sit on top of my hair. After conditioning I have add some kind of moisturizer my hair throughout the week (glycerin and water helps a bit especially in humid weather). I have lost more hair in the past year and a half of transitioning compared to being relaxed. After cutting off the relaxed hair in May 2014 I thought outer would get easier but not at all. I don’t know how to braid was I can barely do twist outs. In addition I cannot wear a wild agro to work every day. Although I am low maintenance when it comes to hair, I do want to change my hair styles. I have tried the current look by using perm rods. Disaster washed a frizzy mess. Everyone suggests says you just have to find the products that work.

Arghhhh!!! Nothing Works!!!

I just end up frustrated and disappointed every time. I don’t like wearing braided extensions because I don’t like the tugging and pulling or soreness afterwards. They are too bulky washed they get in the way. I don’t want to wear weave either. Also i have to deal with family asking me why I have my hair like this and when am I going to make it look decent. I keep trying and trying to no avail. I can’t do this anymore. Nothing works for me. I have to go back to a relaxed….unfortunately. I just can’t make this work. I just want my hair to be the way it was before. Hmmmm…Cream of Nature or Mizani…either of those sounds good to me.

This Is What I responded with…. . I hope this helps.

I'm sorry you feel that way Alexia, I struggled for a long time too, more so because I'm a really laid back person and I cannot braid or really ever get a great twist out. Because let’s face it, 4c hair is really tightly coiled and will always have some sort of frizz to it.

The one thing I have found to combat it  is to watch the Ph levels of the products I use, not to go over 7. Since that would be way to high and damaging on the hair.

I use leaves in with a mixture of aloe Vera juice and pre-poo with oils overnight for more shine and protection against shedding. I only finger detangle now and use the steamer at least once a week. Sometimes even in protective styles.

Have you ever considered locking your hair for a while?

I don't use perm rods either since I am not one for doing extravagant styles. Try to make sure you are not using products with sulfates, these can build up on the hair and not let the conditioners do their job. I have found that Mud based shampoos like Tercentennials do very well on type 4 hair and even on mine followed by an apple cider vinegar rinse, leave in with aloe juice and oil and then a sealant of castor oil or jojoba oil.

I try to let my hair dry naturally by putting it in protective styles for a week. While re-twisting some about every two days and spritzing with Alikay natural lemongrass leave in.

Than after about two days I seal again withShea moisture or Jane Carters Nourish and Shine. The main thing is to leave the hair alone. Our hair does not like a lot of manipulation. Wash, Clarify, Condition, Seal…..Let it be. I hope this helps.
