Natural Vitality: A Relaxing Magnesium Supplement

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure for more Info.

These past couple of weeks I was given the opportunity to review an awesome anti-stress supplement drinkNatural Vitality is a company that was founded in 1982 by Peter Gillham in an effort to provide and combat nutritional deficiencies America. It was founded on the fact that American nutrition has declined over the past 6o years and he wants to do something about it. So by creating nutrient rich, easy to use sustainable supplementation he is definitely on the right road.

Natural Vitality products are high quality and even are award winning dietary supplements. All of the products are Non – GMO and all the ingredients are organically grown. They are best known for Natural Calm, their magnesium supplement drink which helps to balance out the muscles and nerves in the body. Which keeps the heart steady and supports a healthy immune system.

This is not my first time using Natural Vitality, I have used their products over the past year, mainly their children supplementation for my kids.  The main way that I have used them in the past was with by mixing them in the kids smoothies so that children would drink them with out even knowing I had them in there.  Since for some reason if I tell my kids their taking liquid vitamins they just automatically want to say no.

natural vitality

But when taking cod liver oil they seem to have no  problem…….

Anyhow, lets stay on track here.

Natural Vitality sent me their Natural Calm Anti-Stress raspberry lemon flavor packets to review. The purpose of the packets is supposed to balance your calcium intake and restore healthy magnesium levels in the body. Having healthy levels of both calcium and magnesium is very crucial , both of these play a major role in proper formation of bones and teeth, regular bowel function, regulation of the heart, relaxation of blood vessels and even help with giving you a boost of energy. More than 80% of Americans are deficient in healthy magnesium  levels.

Now that's way to many people if you ask me!

Some symptoms that can you help you figure out if you might be lacking in these is two are:

  • Numbness and tingling
  • Muscle contractions and cramps
  • Seizures
  • migraines
  • loss of weight
  • Fatigue and Weakenss
  • Menstrual Cramps

I know from my own journey of having an issue with painful menstrual cramps that I had to do something about it.  I decided to up my mineral game and include more calcium and magnesium along with other things. I hardly get nauseous anymore and I barley have cramps if any.

However, I have had great experiences so far with many of their products. The Natural Vitality  calm packets taste quite good.  You know how some powdered drinks can have a powdery taste to them, well these do not. The raspberry lemon flavor dissolved quite well and quickly enough so that I could enjoy it.  Soon after I finished half the bottle I started to feel really calm, and very relaxed. It was a little more of relaxed feeling than what I'm used to since it made me want to go to sleep. However that was only the first time that I used it. Every other time it was not to that extent, where I needed to take a nap.

The Anti-Stress Drink is Gmo-Free, and it gets my vote for sure!

I also had the chance to try out their Natural Vitality  Kids Natural Calm Multivitamin. This one in  particular  is one that I have used in the past and has a taste similar to that of a V8 if you ever had it. Not a big fan of V8 or the taste.  That is why with this multivitamin supplement I tend to mix it in the kids smoothies when I to get the chance.  It contains over 24 organic fruits and veggies, omega-3 DHA & EPA and Vitamins and Mineral along with amino acids.  The kid natural calm is even gluten and GMO free! The only thing I don't like is that it contains agave nectar which I am not a fan of.

But hey you win some you lose some.

Even though, I don't like the taste it goes away when mixed in homemade Popsicles or smoothies!

Natural Vitality even has their own line of Vitamin C supplements, I already take some supplements in pill form. Although not many, because I have a hard time taking any pills that are not in gel cap form.

Don't ask me why, it stems from a horrible experience I had as child taking medicine.

natural v3

So, I was totally relieved to see that their vitamin c was in a gel cap form,  Lately I have been using a powdered form, but its great to have options.  They are really quite small and easy to swallow making it snap to take the required amount for each day.  The only thing I noticed is that I have not seen the product back on the site, so I don't know if they stopped selling it or if they are just plain out of stock .

Anyhow,  I love the natural vitality products and will continue to purchase more in  the future.

Violin Day!

I just wanted to share how well my younger son Jordan has been doing with his violin lessons. He has been taking lessons for less than a year now and has been progressing at a rapid rate. I love the fact that he chose the violin.  The sounds of a violin has always been one of my all time favorite instruments, just the sounds of hearing a violin play always seems to entrance me or help me to fall a sleep.

Here is my little Jordan stepping up and doing his best at the Spark Recital, which is a home-school enrichment center for children to come to.

Do you any of your children play instruments? I would love to know.

Not familiar with Social Media Parties? Here's a bit more info!

What is a Google+ Party?

Much like a Facebook or Twitter Party, a Google + Party is where we all get together at a specific time and chat. We ask questions and you get to answer, you ask questions and we answer! It's a great way to get to know the people behind the blogs you already love and in this case spread the word about natural living.

Why hashtags?

Using hashtags in a social media site is a way to connect with others who are also using the same hashtag. It's really a label, a tracking method if you will. It's also a way for people not involved to learn about what you are talking about. A friend may see you mention something and they can click on the hashtag which will open up comments/links/photos from other people with the same hashtag. It's also a great way to find new companies and bloggers.

Who are the Hosts?

Hosts are the lovely people who are putting on the party. It's important to follow them (circle them) so that you will be guaranteed to see what they post.
We are looking forward to chatting with all of you on October 1st at 9pm EST!

The Busy Mom’s Make-Ahead Breakfast Cookbook

Quick and easy Breakfast Ideas

Recently, I had the chance to read and put into use a book that is well simply fantastic! My friend Carrie Willard of natural moms talk radio whom I recently told you about here who wrote the Natural Moms Business Guide.   Has recently came out with another, great book Helping moms to slash their grocery budget and still buy natural and feed a large family, all by shopping at Aldi!

If you have not had a chance to check out that book you can do so by visiting it here!

That's not what I'm writing about however, I am even more excited over this new edition to her eBook arsenal. Carrie once again is a friend of mine and I truly admire her and how she home schools 7 kids and and does all this while her husband and her both work from home.  I don't know about you, but that is a lot of mouths to feed. Especially 3 times a day, on clockwork.

Trust me, I have four kids that are homeschooled all boys and they stay hungry on demand…...Lol.

So when Carrie gave me the opportunity to review her book, I was all over it!

I'm so glad I did. This book came right at the right time, I have been struggling lately when it comes to getting the meal planning a little more organized. But more so in the morning time, which is truly the time when I am very sluggish and like to take my time.  Getting up early in the morning and hearing kids yell “Mommy, were hungry!” really is bit much to handle.

I'm a really good cook, I like to think so myself……however it just takes me a minute to get moving in the mornings. I really, really love this book and can truly say, I printed it out placed it in a binder and will use it over and over again.

Busy moms cookbook

Carrie's Busy Mom's Make Ahead Breakfast Cookbook is truly a life saver when it comes to breakfast ideas to feed the kiddies.

I love the fact that, she spoke of wanting her mornings to be more relaxed and not rushed through. Since that is just how I feel too. Who doesn't want to wake up and feel relaxed without stressing over ideas to feed the kids.

I know I don't!

Anyhow, Carrie gives some great tips when it comes to making breakfast and saving time!

  • She mentions that we should prep, each night or mid day for the next morning breakfast.
  • Waste not Want not – Carries implies that we should save  food that is not used from other  meals and re-use in breakfast meals ( vegetables, fruit)

Many of the Ideas were great ones too! You can tell just by reading this post, how uber excited I am about it.

For instance some of the recipes next on my list to try are the:

  • Yogurt Cups – All homemade. (Mostly)
  • Pre-made Smoothie Bags
  • Oatmeal Clafuotis
  • Using Rice as a Breakfast Idea in the Rice Cooker
  • Homemade Breakfast Granola and Breakfast Bars!

In fact tomorrow, I will be sharing a post detailing how I try out one of her crock pot oatmeal recipes!

The only drawback is that the book is really just print, not a whole lot of visual. If your into that sort of thing. It is very detail and step by step so either way it goes you won't have any problem. Putting the recipes together.

I love this book, and if your interested in checking it out you can do so through amazon on by using your Amazon Pc Application, or your Kindle! In fact starting tomorrow the book will be free for 24hrs!

So Check it out!

How I’ve Greened My Homeschool Year! It Dosen’t Have To Cost a Fortune

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure for more Info.

Welcome to the September 2013 Natural Living Blog Carnival: Extending Natural Living to the Classroom.

This post was written for inclusion in the monthly Natural Living Blog Carnival hosted by Happy Mothering and The Pistachio Project through the Green Moms Network. This month, our members are talking about how they extend their family's natural lifestyle to their child's school. Hop around to each post to get some tips and share your own!

—–

With the new year in full force around here, and homeschooling is in effect. I decided that this year instead of spending of ton and dropping out the cash. I decided to go a littler greener this year when it came to my home school plan.

So instead of opening a catalog with homeschooling supplies and you might quickly get the impression that homeschooling is going to cost thousands of dollars. While you may opt to go this route it’s not necessary. You can get your homeschooling supplies inexpensively.

Here are a few tips:

Set a budget

Just like anything else that involves your finances, it’s wise to set a homeschooling budget for the year before you begin purchasing supplies. If you see some awesome math DVD or whiz-bang chemistry set, you’ll have to see where you’re at, budget-wise before you make the purchase. Just doing this might keep you from buying a lot of unnecessary stuff that will end up in the storage closet.

Get clear

Decide on your homeschooling style and test-drive curriculum and other tools before you start buying. One of the reasons buying homeschooling curriculum can be so expensive is because most of the time you’re buying it sight unseen. It may not be right for your child so you end up selling it at a fraction of retail on eBay.

I might have to do on one of math set’s, right.

But hey you live and you learn right!

To avoid this problem, get with the other homeschooling parents in your support group. Ask them what they like and dislike about curriculum they’ve purchased and used. Read messages on homeschooling support forums online and do the same. Deciding in advance what your style will be means you can adapt the tools to the method, not the other way around.

I’m apart of a couple local groups now that do swap and meet’s. Sort of like an bartering system. Really cool right!

Once you’re decided however, curriculum in a box programs may be cheaper than obtaining everything piecemeal. You can also purchase inexpensive basic curriculum at bookstores for under $30 apiece. For example, www.mkkids.com offers basic skills curriculum as well as thewww.educents.com

Buy used

You can find great deals at swap meets organized by homeschooling support groups. Hooking up with your local group also means group discounts on field trips. To find one, check with your local home school association – a simple internet search will turn some up. Try joining booking coops too.

Yard sales, thrift stores, eBay, Craigslist, Freecycle, “for sale or trade” message forums for home schoolers online are some more places to find cheap supplies. Public library sales is another place to find inexpensive books to fill out your family’s bookshelves.

Get creative

Nowadays many parents are getting creative and opt to design a curriculum. You can create unit studies, you can go for a “living books” curriculum by making lists of reading material and getting these from the library. You can print an almost infinite number of free online worksheets (just search for what you need, for example “free third grade math worksheets” etc.).

Using Curclick has tons of cheap and affordable ways that you could do this. Love this site!

Math manipulatives can be frugal. Instead of buying fancy things, use stuff you have around your home to teach the kids math – dried beans, dried macaroni, Lego toys, wooden blocks, etc can teach addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and basic geometry.

Find freebies

Did you know that many office supply stores host teacher appreciation days once a year around August? These are a source of free and discounted items and giveaways. Many larger bookstores such as Barnes and Noble also offer discounts to teachers throughout the year, including homeschooling parents. They also have free book giveaways in the summer.

Public libraries are a never ending source of free homeschooling materials. From the obvious – unlimited free books – to educational DVDs, great music on CD, arts and crafts activities open to the public, symphony days, story time, even continuing education for older teens and adults.

Public domain books can also be downloaded and printed freely from the internet at http://www.gutenberg.org/

With a little creativity and time, you can home-school frugally – saving not only money but also allowing you more flexibility in the educating of your kids. The Green Way!
