Well Guys something awesome happened, I was featured on a naturallymemedia.com which is a site dedicated to natural hair, beauty and fashion. Now I read this site all the time and follow all the news and press that comes out about fro fashion week. So when I found out I was listed on her site as one the to five natural hair, natural living and fashion bloggers to follow in 2012.

I was ecstatic!

To know that someone who you have been following for quite some time is also following you and reading your material is awesome. I love the natural hair community, and to be recognized in the community for sharing my knowledge on natural health, natural living is something that touched my heart. I love to blog.

With four small boys and a family I may not be able to do it often………lol

But I do love to blog.

It is a way of sharing my soul, sharing my thoughts, sharing my goals and passions with you all. The natural community is like a family that supports each other come what may. How To Detox Your Body Naturally: Part Two

In Part one we discussed a brief overview of detoxing and how I am embarking on a three to four day detox to cleanse my body of all the crap I have eaten these past few weeks. However let's get into a little more about detoxing and why it could be something you might want to do. Not just once a year but maybe depending on your health a couple times a year.

Detoxing and detox diets are all the rave when it comes to celebrities who want to lose weight really fast, for example beyonce lost a ton weight when she took on the role for dream girls years back. However I don't think anyone should detox to lose a ton of weight. I feel that you should detox for normal cleansing reasons. Than you would naturally lose weight that should not be there at all.

Not forcefully.

Detoxing offers many more benefits than just losing weight.

Detoxing is the process of eliminating toxins from your body. Your body detoxes naturally in many ways. For example, when you sweat your body releases toxins from your body in the form of liquid. When you urinate your body releases toxins from your body and even through your stools. It is the body's natural way of getting rid of all that junk.

You ever wonder where all that junk gets stored if it is not released through your body. We'll for one most toxins are stored in your fat cells, muscles, blood and even your organs. It makes you wonder why people are walking around so sick and why there is so much disease rampant.

Many of these toxins enter your body from every day exposure to chemicals. For example, car exhaust is inhaled. Second hand smoke is a toxin. You also ingest pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers and other chemicals when you eat. If you drink alcohol then you want to help get toxins out of your body. And if you eat junk food or processed food then you also consume chemicals in the form of artificial sweeteners, preservatives and flavorings and colorings.

But the big question you may wondering is How Exactly Does Detoxing Work?

We'll I'm no guru when it comes to this and advise that you get the guidance of an your health care provider before you do anything.

I'm going through this along with you and I only do things that feel natural  for my body and you should to.

Now a detox diet is a plan to help you get rid of toxins out of your body in an accelerated manner. Most basic detox diets work by eliminating any chemicals from being consumed. For example, you might drink only organic juices for five days. This gets all of the toxins out of your body and doesn’t add any into your body. If you add sweating, massage and salt baths to the process then you detoxify even faster.

However, I don't do all that.

I like to keep it simple.

The best times to know when you might want to detox is when you are feeling run down and sluggish for an extended period of time. When you might want to get a kick start to cleanse your body and start losing weight. Or you just want to restore your health.

As with anything there can be side effects to anything health wise you do.

Detoxing isn’t for everyone and it’s not without risks. You will likely experience a few withdrawal symptoms if you are on a detox diet. This is because your body is used to sugars and other chemicals. When you stop eating them, your body will need time to adjust. You might experience headaches, a bit of insomnia and some stomach distress. These side effects pass quickly. Once you’ve made it through the withdrawal symptoms you’ll feel great. You’ll likely have more energy. Your complexion may improve and your digestion and mental clarity will improve too.

I always notice a drastic improvement in my skin and less headaches every time I avoid sugars and white flour.

But like before talk to your doctor, take your time and listen to your body.

Your health is important. Detoxing can improve it. Detox carefully.

How to Detox Your Body Naturally: Part One

Wow, after this whole big holiday thing of eating a ton food. I am so ready for a huge detox diet. I have completely went way off the route that I totally eat. I have eaten things that have been totally full of way to much sugar girl eatingand many processed ingredients.

Things I do not eat.

So, yes I am totally feeling the effects of too much sugar in my system. Many of the ways that I can tell that my body is having a toxic overload is I began to get a ton of headaches. My body starts to twitch in my hands and feet along with eyes feeling weird.

I know you're like dang girl, you notice all that.

Yeah, I do.

I am a very interpersonal, intrapersonal intuitive person. Which allows me the ability to be very in tuned with my body and the things that go on inside of it. My body is so sensitive that I get sensory overload frequently and had to learn from a young age how to handle certain situations when there is too much going on.

It's a new year, with a lot of new things going on, and I can't go into the new year full of toxins in my system. When I go on detox diet I really don't do to many planned out box detox kits, I like to eat real food for my detox.

Although, I have used things in the past. I generally just stick to plan oh food. Simple, Clean, Pure, Food.

Over The next couple of days I plan to take you with me on my easy detox plan and discover some new methods of detoxing.

But first let's take a step back and learn what the toxins are and when we should detox. Toxins come in many different forms and can affect your health in many ways.

You may have heard that detoxing helps improve your health. What you may not know is how. What happens when you remove toxins from your body? And what types of toxins are inside you?

Toxins come in a few different categories. They include:

 

* Household toxins

* Food toxins

* Environmental toxins

* Lifestyle toxins

Let’s take a closer look at each type of toxin.

 

Lifestyle Toxins

These toxins are the easiest to eliminate from your life. However, the detox and withdrawal process can be quite challenging. Lifestyle toxins are the toxins you get from smoking, taking prescription and over the counter medications, and drinking alcohol. Sugar and white flour can also be a significant toxin and cause serious problems. Even high levels of caffeine can cause health problems.

Food Toxins

Food toxins include artificial sweeteners like aspartame and Acesulfame K. It also includes chemical fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides and preservatives. During the farming and manufacturing process the food you eat is exposed to hundreds of chemicals. The human body isn’t equipped to manage these chemicals. Thus those chemicals stay in your body. The result can be severe including cancer and immune or neurological disorders.

Which is why I say my hands and feet begin to twitch. Weird huh.

Detoxing helps get them out of your body.

Environmental Toxins

Go outside and take a breath of fresh air. As cleansing as that breath can feel, it is contaminated by toxins. These toxins are off gasses from farming and manufacturing processes. In addition, combustion engines and other systems create pollution. That pollution finds its way into your body in the air you breathe and the water you drink.

Household Toxins

There have been many studies that have shown that the air inside your home is much more dangerous than the air outside your home. Indoor pollution is a real problem. Household cleansers are filled with chemicals. You breathe them in whenever you use them. Additionally, bath and body products are also filled with chemicals.

Toxins are everywhere. They’re inside your home, workplace and the places you visit. They’re also in the food you eat and the things you drink. You can minimize your exposure to toxins by eating organic and locally grown foods. Use natural cleaning products in your home and bath.

You can also purge the toxins from your system by occasionally going on a detox program. Which I like to go on short detox plans using real food. You’ll be able to purge the toxins from your body and maintain your health. It’s a great way to wipe the slate clean and start fresh

You can gain renewed energy, better sleep, more mental clarity and even lose weight by occasionally detoxing. Take great care when you detox. Follow your doctor’s guidelines and treat your body well.

Pevonia Botanica Spa Teen Blemished Skin Mask

I recently had the chance to try out a new face mask cream on my skin. I have always been prone to skin issues and love trying out new things . I recently had went to the spa and got a micro dermabrasion treatment on my face. Then when I was all the done the woman who was cleaning my skin told me I should try out Spa Teen Blemished Skin Mask By Pevonia Bontanica.

Hey, I'm not new to this I love trying out new products as long as they have good ingredients and will not overly dry, or overly oily my skin. I have combination skin which means my T-zone areas which involves my forehead nose and chin tend to be the oiliest and the rest of my face remains dry. So just trying to find the right products have always been an issue.

But, then again because I love to try out new things.

Anyhow, this mask is supposed to help clear out the blemishes on skin or keep them from recurring as much. I know, I know your probably thinking. If I'm not a teenager than why am I still getting acne. Well some people do and I happen to be one of those people. If I even attempt t to eat some processed food or not so good for you food.

Or have a little stress in my life .

Than I'm breaking out.

Point blank.

So I took the product home and it says that I am supposed to apply the product to clean damp skin, let it dry. Than wash it off with cool water.

We'll that is what I did for a couple of weeks.

The Teen Blemished Skin Mask By Pevonia Bontanica is also organic and paraben free so I felt totally great applying it to my already sensitive combination skin.

As you can see in the picture above, it leaves a off white look and to my surprise it was not heavy at all. I have masks that work really well but they can leave a drying effect on the skin from the hardness that it becomes once it dries.

Teen Blemished skin does not do that in fact it had the opposite effect on my skin, once I rinsed it all off. My skin felt smooth and clean. Not dry at all. But sort of moisturized.

Even though, after all that was done I still applied my Grapeseed oil for added over night extra toning and moisture.

Some people will not even need to apply anything at all.

Now did the product help with clearing up my skin issues?

Yes it helped, to a decent degree.

Will I use the product again in the future?

Yes, I plan on using it over and again, it is not the best one that I have tried, but then again my skin is so up and down to a lot of different things. But for the normal person this could be a miracle in bottle for acne prone skin.

I like the product and as of right now. I would purchase it again, because I am curious as to how my skin would behave with long term use of the product.

Oil Pulling With Coconut Oil: Does It Work?

I recently had the chance to go to the dentist for a normal cleaning and a checkup of my teeth. However, to my dismay, I have a cavity, not one but more than one. I was a little shocked because I have gone through my whole life with out any cavities in my mouth. So I was a little upset, to say the least. I ended up doing a little research on the topic because I eat pretty good and maintain and avoidance of a lot of things.

However, I learned I was not doing enough. In fact, as I look back this past year I have had a lot going on in my life stress wise and everything. You know the normal ups and downs that come with life. But one thing stuck out to me was that I was eating a lot of ice cream late at night, and a lot more processed food than I would usually consume.

This research and back tracking of what went wrong with my nutrition habits was that the sugars I have been consuming late at night were causing a disruption in my body's natural balance. The sugars were not only damaging to my health but pulling the minerals my body needs for optimum health out of my bones.

Because when your body is not getting the nutrients that it needs it starts to pull the mineral out your bones, and even your teeth because your teeth are bone. Which in return can lead to cavities.

However, since I believe in the power of regeneration and the ability of the human body to heal itself. I've learned thanks to Ramiel Nigel Cure Tooth Decay Naturally Book. That our teeth are in a constant state of De-mineralization and Re-mineralization. Ramiel Nigel claims that we can actually cure our tooth problems through what we eat. He also follows the Weston price foundation way of eating, a Traditional Foods Diet that places heavy emphasis on eating the way our fore parents ate.

I actually follow this model, except this year I have eaten way too many sweets, and boy of boy look what happened.

Another thing that I am trying is something called Oil Pulling, and if you never heard of oil pulling it is an age-old remedy that is supposed to help with teeth problems by healing the area that has gone out of balance with the body. Now don't get me wrong I have nothing against dental fillings and work. But why band-aid a problem and not getting to the root of the whole problem, to begin with.

Oil pulling involves placing a variety of oils in your mouth and then swishing around for about 3 – 10 minutes to help with infections, clean out bacteria and help with teeth pain.

Water Flosser

Yesterday, I used about 1/3 cup of coconut oil and olive for my very first Oil Pulling!  Oil pulling with coconut oil is great. I swished the oil around for about 4 minutes than I spat it out. With a very mild rinse, I was good to go. To my surprise, right after that, I have not had any pain from my teeth since, however, I do plan on oil pulling for the next week or so to see what results it could bring.

This is not a permanent fix to the problem but it can help speed up the healing process since coconut oil is high in fatty acids and anti-microbial factors. If you want to learn more about the many uses of coconut Oil than I high suggest you read the Coconut Oil Miracle.

I am currently trying some other things out, such as getting back to my regular eating habits and trying some supplemental bone building vitamins. Truly which are on the cutting edge.

But, I will talk more about that once I test them out for myself.

The Benefits of oil pulling with coconut oil really does go a long way. !
