A Love Yourself Holistic Pedicure: Black Tea And Honey

I am always trying to figure out new ways to bring out my inner calm by using different pampering techniques to soothe my soul. Like using at home holistic pedicures, body scrubs, lighting candles and such. With many of ushoneypedicure living in time where there can be a lot of stress, much of that stress if we allow it can take over out body and show outward even if we have not done much physical tedious work.

Did you know stress can actually show up in our feet? Our feet are in need of some major pampering on a regular basis. This natural regime is the perfect remedy for removing some of those toxins, and giving your feet the attention they so much deserve.

Honey is used as an ingredient in each of the following steps. Be sure to look for honey that is locally produced and organic. (If you are vegan, you can leave out the honey or go for some organic agave nectar.) I do not eat agave nectar which is something I will discuss in a later post, but very rarely I will use it as a substitute for some things.

This is an easy fall all natural Detox for your feet and soul!

What you will need is:

2 bags of black tea (look for fair-trade brands in stores)

Teaspoon of honey

Teaspoon of lemon

Bucket of warm/hot water

Soak your feet in the mixture for at least ten minutes. Be sure to use a pumice stone to remove dead skin. Proceed to the next step.

Foot scrub:

½ cup of Hawaiian sea salt (or any sea salt will do)

Teaspoon of honey

Three tablespoons of coconut oil (or any oil)

After combining these ingredients, massage onto your feet, paying extra attention to achy spots. While you’re at it, massage into your hands as well. Rinse off with warm water.

Moisturizing salve:

A tablespoon or two of honey (look at the farmers markets for the best deals)

A teaspoon or two of coconut oil  Or (sweet almond oil  as well)

Stir together the above ingredients in a bowl. Place the bowl in a larger vat of warm water to heat the honey/oil mixture as you Detox and scrub. Slather onto your feet and read a magazine for 10-15 minutes. You can wrap your feet in saran wrap or some old socks for an extra touch heated touch. When your time is up, and you feel it is time to take them off, rinse off thoroughly with warm water with your favorite gentle organic soap. (Castile Soap would do)

Use my mixture of Shea butter mixed with Jojoba oil or Grape seed Oil to top it all off and you’re done!

P.S.  Would Love to hear your comments on the Recipe.

My Top Ten Natural SkinCare Tips

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure for more Info.

beautyNow today in modern society where everything is pretty much big business and all about how to make a buck. We are constantly bombarded with ads in magazines and on television about how we can find beauty in a bottle. They always seem to have some sort of way to fix this or make that.

They make money hand over fist selling products to us that are “supposed” to make us look more youthful, give us softer-looking skin, hide our imperfections, and make us look like a supermodel. But they are not so forthright in telling us that their products are full of chemical ingredients that can do more harm to us than good. Looking younger in the moment is just not worth it though when you may eventually get cancer because the skin care products you were using contained carcinogenic chemicals. For beautiful skin and good health on the inside as well we need to rediscover natural skincare ingredients and products. Your skin is your biggest organ and it needs to be treated with care.

Natural Health

If you really care about your health from the inside out, then you must make resolve to get rid of conventional products and start using organic and natural ingredients in your beauty routines. Here are some easy ways to go natural:

1. Keep your skin healthy from the inside with a healthy diet. Also, drink plenty of water to flush out toxins and impurities. Water is an internal shower for your body so make sure to drink eight to ten glasses a day. Water helps to give you clear eyes, and a radiant complexion and helps to flush out all those nasty toxins while keeping your cells healthy.

2. Use Natural oils and natural moisturizers that won't clog your pores. Essential oils are composed of tiny molecules which are easily dissolved into the human skin.. This will allow them to penetrate the skin easily and work into the body by mixing with the fatty tissue. Some great oils to use include jojoba oil, and coconut oil and my favorite is Grape seed Oil. This oil is Awesome for combination skin and anyone with sensitive skin.

3. Coconut oil is a great all-natural moisturizer for the skin, but my favorite is pure Shea butter for mixed with either jojoba oil or grape seed oil. I just tend to mix them together and apply them after a bath. Love it love it.

Natural Skincare

4. Skip washing your hair every day with shampoos that contain sulfates and parabens and instead use no-poo shampoos and conditioners. This method is proven to work well on curly and straight hair. As sulfates tend to dry your hair out and strip of its natural oils.

5. To wash make-up off just rub some olive oil onto your face and wipe off with a soft, dry rag that will exfoliate your face as well. Microfiber cloths are particularly nice for cleansing the face.

6. I use cotton balls to apply my toner which is usually just grape seed oil which is my toner and moisturizer all in one. It is full of fatty acids and vitamins like A, C, and E.

7. Try your hand at making your own skincare products with easy ingredients like salt, sugar, oatmeal, milk, honey, olive oil, or avocado oil. They are cost-effective and you know exactly what you are putting on your skin. You don’t need a chemistry degree to create beauty products of your own.

In fact, a great book to get you started is  Organic Body Care Recipes this book is a great starter book for learning about the natural health benefits of making your own natural beauty products, and how to make your own. I refer to this book time and time again to make my own handmade bath and body products.

8. Dry brush your body to exfoliate your skin and slough off dead skin cells. This is a centuries-old practice that is still used by many today.

9. When purchasing products read the labels carefully and only buy products with recognizable ingredients, organic if possible, without parabens or fragrance.

10. Get some sun every day but not too much. Your skin needs sunlight for optimum health but staying out to long and damaging your skin isn’t good either so strike a balance and wear protective clothing and a big sun hat if you can instead of using chemical sunscreens.

I hope that all these tips can help you get started taking more natural steps towards more natural hair and beauty care.

Natural Beauty Product Review – Three Seed Naturals

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure for more Info.

I finally got my package in the mail from a great handmade natural bath and body product company Called Three Seed Naturals. Three seed naturals is a bath and body product company that sells handmade body lotions, sugar body scrubs, body creams, and lip balms and lots more.

I was able to get my package pretty quickly and it was rather fast to say the least less than two days, which is great. I am sort of a person that likes to get things right then and there and this really did the trick for me since it got to my home pretty quick.

A plus in my book!

The first thing that I noticed was that it was packaged really nicely nothing was falling out or breaking out of the bottle or anything. Inside was a nice little kitchen magnet that I will be using to place on my fridge to remind me to buy once I run out of the products again.

I decided to use the products that same night, In the shower I used the three seed naturals sugar body scrub in fresh lemon grass and boy o’ boy was that scent to die for. I love really earthy and woodsy scents and this will be a keeper for sure. The scrub is a little more oilier than other scrubs that I have used, but that is good thing I think since my skin was really moist after-wards.

I have really, really dry skin and that was another plus.

After I got out of the shower I tried the Three Seed Naturals Signature pomegranate Ultra Moisturizing Cream which is also made without parabens or phthlates. The cream is really decadent in feel and texture and makes you want to taste it. Smells really good and really did the job for my dry skin needs. I could have left it that way and would have been just fine but I decided to put the Almond Vanilla Everyday Body Lotion on. That stuff is cool and creamy and works just as well as the ultra one; however I like to use both because of my dry skin needs.

I then Top it all off with some jojoba oil to seal in all that good stuff!

As you can see if you would like to get some really cool, smell good and might even taste good all natural bath and body products which are made without parabens and phthlates. Than Three Seed Naturals is a company you might want to give a try.

I love trying out new up and coming handmade bath and body products from new companies, they always seem to put the best love into their products.

I also did a review a video review of the products and you can check that out below.

Green Cleaning Tips and Ideas

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure for more Info.

You know in the time that we are living in there are so many options on the market to clean our homes with, you can basically find just about any magic pill in a box to clean anything. From windows to clothes to floors the options are endless. The only sad thing about having this great variety of cleaning products is that many are playing a heavy toll on our environment, from the packing they are placed in to the chemicals they are made out of .

Many Manufacturing companies are allowed to place many harmful chemicals into the products even with documented evidence of many being able to cause cancer and birth defects and who knows what else. All that is pretty scary to me, and that is why I try my hardest to clean my home with green cleaning products are make my own. Coming from a family with a brother that died from cancer I don’t take anything lightly and I am always looking for new ways to keep my family healthy or at least try to keep them out of harm’s way as much as possible.

Cleaning is a necessary evil. If we didn’t spend some time cleaning we’d be knee deep in filth, which isn't too good for the environment. But, cleaning with toxic chemicals isn’t doing the environment, or us, any favors either. If you change the way you clean your home you can save money, help the environment and might even help to protect your families health

Like many people most keep many of their cleaning products under the sink, I used to with a lock until my kids learned how to open it. Then I changed to my top cabinets in the laundry room where they can not reach. However, no matter how high you keep them it does not make it any safer, most if not all have labels warning you of the danger if any of the products get into the eye, become ingested or so forth.

The thought just makes me cringe……….

But that does not mean that you are I have to stay exposed to this harmful chemicals are allow our family too either.

For starters you could manufacture your own cleaning supplies of your own. Think of it this way – our grandmothers didn’t have fancy aerosol bottles full of chemicals and scrubbing bubbles to keep their house spic-and-span, so why do we? Here are a few tips to help you get your home spotless without breathing toxic air.

Green Clean states – You don’t have to change your home and your habits over-night. Achieving a truly, green home is a gradual process, a series of little steps. And even the smallest changes make a difference. ~Green Clean the environmentally sound Guide to Cleaning Your Home.

To find out more about Green Clean you can read my review here. Green Clean – The Environmentally sound Guide to Cleaning Your Home Review.

Here some green cleaning ideas to get you started:

Use Dishcloths to clean your Dishes.

How long have you used that sponge next to your kitchen sink? Chances are you’ve been using it way too long. Sponges can harbor lots of bacteria and actually be spreading germs on your counter tops instead of removing germs. Dishcloths are washed regularly right along with the dishtowels so they get clean more often. Wash your dishcloths with cold water and detergent; the combination will clean and kill germs sufficiently. You may want to add white vinegar as it is widely believed that this helps disinfect without any harmful chemicals.

Make your Own Green Cleaning Supplies.

A simple solution of vinegar and water can be used in a spray bottle to cut grease on surfaces like your stove and the counter-tops. Vinegar and water is also a perfect solution to clean floors, windows, and the refrigerator and freezer. To clear a clog in the bathroom drain, use white vinegar and baking soda to break up whatever might be stuck in your drain. Baking soda and fine steel wool can help remove dirt from the grout in the tub and shower, around the sink fixtures, and in other places where crud tends to collect.

Buy Eco-friendly Cleaning Products.

Many companies have created their own line of Eco – friendly cleaning products that are better for the environment and less toxic to you. They are usually affordable and concentrated so they go a long way. These products are now available in many of the big stores you are familiar with, and can even be found online.

One great one that I like is Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent, you can find it in publix and any natural health store however amazon is a great spot because they give you lots of savings.

As you see , it only takes a few easy steps to get you started on the road to cleaning in a green way. Get rid of all those chemical based cleaners and use something more natural for a deep down clean that is safe for the environment… and you, too.

P.S. Learning to Clean Green is Easy and is fun as you learn how to make the necessary changes.

Make My Organic Green Smoothie Recipe – Awesome For Natural Energy

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure for more Info.

As part of the second follow-up on how to make some cool green salads, I wanted to share with you my favorite organic green smoothie that I make at least two to three times a week. I don't do this every day but at least three times a week.  A couple of years ago after the birth of my last son and already being anemic my iron had become very low even with the help of supplements. And I need something that was going to help me get my iron back up. I am constantly busy with four small boys and having iron helps you to have energy. Iron is needed for your blood to have proper circulation and if it does not have that your blood is not getting enough oxygen to your blood supply which leads to feeling tired or lack of energy.

Even though you can take supplements they are better taken in their raw form or broken down with food added to them to aid with digestion. When you eat real food your body recognizes what it is and is able to transfer that into energy right away. And knowing that iron is broken down by orange juice because of the acid, I decided to Use Spinach and Orange juice together and my Amazing Grass green superfoods supplementation.

I use spinach because spinach is full of iron, orange juice helps to break down the iron a lot quicker in its raw form. Then I added my amazing grass green superfood that aids in giving me more energy, detoxifies my body naturally, regulates my metabolism and controls my appetite, and balances my body alkalinity levels or our body's natural PH.

Cool Stuff huh……..

I always feel so great I after I make this green smoothie.

The amazing green grass ingredients include:

  • organic wheatgrass
  • organic barley grass, organic alfalfa
  • organic spirulina
  • organic spinach
  • organic Chlorella
  • organic broccoli

Antioxidant Blend includes:

  • Organic Acai
  • Organic Maca ( helps to stabilize mood and menstrual cycles)
  • organic carrot, organic beet

Energizing Herb Blend:

  • Peppermint,

Digestive Enzymes and Active Probiotics ( Probiotics help to support the immune system and digestion issues)

  • Acidophilus, Alpha, and Beta Amylase, Protease, Lipase, Lactase

The Recipe includes about

1 cup spinach

2 cups Organic orange juice

3-4 amazing green grass supplements

add all of it in the blender and smoothie it and eat right afterward!

I hope you enjoy it.
