Homemade Natural Stain Remover

There are many different ways to make and use homemade natural stain removers, I tend to buy them most of the time. However, when you are short on time and want really need a quick solution to get a stain out of your clothes or anything else in your house. You might want to try mixing coconut oil with a solution to help rid the stain loose. Coconut oil is great for so many uses, and can really help to loosen up stains in a short period of time.

If you have a stain on your carpet, rug, or clothing, you might be trying to use a store-bought product to remove the stain. Not only are these not always the most effective method, but they often contain harsh ingredients you might not want on your body or in your home. A better option is to turn to natural stain removers, such as those listed here.

Homemade Basic Stain Remover Spray:

This first natural stain remover only contains a few simple ingredients in order to help you get rid of stains on clothing or other fabrics without using any harsh ingredients. You can put the finished mixture in a spray bottle and keep it in your laundry room. Spray stains before putting clothes or linens in the washer, and it should work great.

For the simplest recipe, you just need some natural soap, such as Dr. Bronners Sal Suds, water, and coconut oil, plus a spray bottle. Combine the ingredients in the bottle, then spray it on the stains before washing.

Other Ingredients to Use

You can also use a variety of other natural ingredients to make your own stain remover spray. You may find your own formula that works best for you and want to keep it a secret, or you can find a combination that people often like to use. Here are some of the best options for natural ingredients when talking about a stain remover:

* Baking Soda
* Vinegar
* Hydrogen Peroxide
* Natural Soap
* Coconut Oil
* Lemon Juice
* Oxygen Bleach

When you are putting together your very own natural stain remover, make sure you are careful about it and that you don’t test it on a large piece of fabric or clothing. Test it on something like a towel first to make sure it doesn’t change the color of the material or cause other bad reactions.

Once you have made your natural stain remover with coconut oil and other natural ingredients, make sure you never rub the stain. Whether it is in carpet, your clothing, or linens, blotting should always be done. If you catch the stain following a spill when it is wet, blot it dry with paper towels first. You can then spray the stain and blot it once more. The only exception is when it is on clothing you are about to put in the washer. You can apply the stain remover, let it sit for a few minutes, then put it in the washer.

I hope this helps!

I love essential oils, I use them in my homemade hair products, I buy natural bar soaps that have essential oil in them, I even use aromatherapy oils for home air fresheners in my home. They are great for so many uses!

Aromatherapy oils are oils that are created from natural elements. They’re also called essential oils. They range from lavender to grapefruit and everything in between. They offer a number of therapeutic benefits, cleaning help and even health benefits.

Here Are Nine Smart Ways of Using Aromatherapy Oils in Your Home

how to use aromatherapy

#1 Water Diffuser and Room Freshener.

Add six to eight drops of your favorite scent to a bowl of water. If the water is warm, it will help spread the scent more quickly. You could place the bowl on a table or counter. If you’re really in need of a quick freshening, simply add the drops to a pan of boiling water. Choose your essential oils based on your mood or need. For example, if you want to freshen up your home lemon, verbena, orange or other light scents are ideal. If you’re looking to relax, try lavender or sandalwood.

#2 Room and Linen Deodorizer.

Add a few drops of essential oil to water in a spray bottle. Keep a bottle in your bathroom. Spray near pet areas. Or use the spray to freshen linens. Lavender spray in your bedroom is a great way to add a relaxing scent.

#3 Sachet and Closet Freshener.

Add a few drops of essential oils to cotton balls and place in drawers or your closet. Lavender, cedar or sandalwood are nice choices.

#4 Heat Diffuser.

Place a few drops of essential oils on a cotton ball or wool ball and place inside a heating vent. When your furnace kicks on the blower will help spread the scent throughout your home.

#5 Sinus Remedy.

If you’re ill or struggling with congestion place eucalyptus oil in hot water. Consider placing the oil in a hot water vaporizer as well.

#6 Refrigerator Deodorizer.

Place several drops of orange, mint or lemon oil in a bucket of warm water. With a clean sponge, use the water to clean out your refrigerator.

#7 Counter Cleaner.

Add lemon, thyme, basil or even geranium oil to equal parts distilled white vinegar and water. Use to clean countertops in your kitchen and bathroom.

#8 Light bulb room freshener.

Place a drop of your favorite oil on your light bulbs. Make sure to add the oil when the bulbs are cold. When the light is on and the bulb heats up it will heat the oil and fill the room with scent. Consider placing lavender oil on bedroom light bulbs to relax. And invigorating grapefruit or other citrus scent in your home office.

#9 Furniture polish.

Add four to six drops of lemon essential oil to half a cup of olive oil. With a clean dry rag, use the oil to polish wood furniture.

Essential oils fill your home with fresh and natural scents. You can be sure you’re providing your loved ones with a safe environment free from harmful chemicals when you use aromatherapy oils to clean and deodorize your home.

Getting Rid of Clutter and What Dr Oz Taught Me!

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure for more Info.

Getting rid of clutter is the quest that I am on lately to re-organize my life and bring some much needed zen to this humble abode. As you can see from the picture below I am in need of some much needed de-cluttering. That's my table out in the patio which Is the side room where my son and I do most of his homeschooling in the daytime. My three other boys are now in regular school and I really need to get this room organized.

Than hopefully keep it that way.

We use this room for everything, family bible studies, art, even for guests to eat at when they want to get in the pool during summer. Having this room this way and looking like this has really been bothering me lately and I have to get it under control. I'm that person that hates to fold clothes, and just the sight of paper pile up causes me anxiety yet I can't seem to get it under control.

My husband and I have to much stuff in the closet I can hardly walk through it and just the thought of start of doing my closet is overwhelming. ;-(

My only worry is that once it's organized,  I don't want to go back to the my same old pattern of not keeping it up.

Getting rid of clutter

So for the past month, I have been on this de-clutter mission to get rid of clutter in my home and I think I am doing a good job so far. I have been going from room to room closet by closet first and getting rid of clutter and children's things.

Minimizing and cutting back is what I'm after and trying to find balance is my ultimate end goal.

Yes, so developing HABITS is the key…

However, I will have to say even for us clutter head's it might be a sign of creative genius -;) Well even Einstein once thought it.

“If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, then what are we to think of an empty desk?” -Albert Einstein

I will have to say that organizing your home and getting rid of clutter when you really never took the time to make it organized. Can be a challenge. When you first start can be time consuming and if your really not a neat freak like me it does take a little bit of a push to get going .

However, once I'm complete with my project I hope to keep up with it!

That is why when I watched doctor oz the other day there was a really great section on it that spoke about de-cluttering and simple steps to help you keep your home de-cluttered and free of mess.

A few of those steps included:

  • Getting the kids to help out with the clean up process – my boys are spoiled I have to say. The younger ones at least I tend to clean up after them way too much. However, they do know how to  cook. If that's says anything.  I believe in teaching young ones to cook early on.
  • Chose a Disorder Zone – Chose a zone that is okay to be out of order each day and not worry too much about picking it up right away and stressing out about it. However the others ones do pick up.
  • Spend 10 min each day picking up stuff, organizing things, putting things away. I love this step and already started applying it in my home. I even went a litter further and now I spend 10 minutes three times each day through out the day when I can and pick up things.
  • Use a Shredder to help get rid of that paper each day and keep a throw away basket like this heavy duty paper shredder with pullout basket to help with keeping the paper at bay!

I'm totally on a mission to get this patio in tip top shape along with other areas for home, I'll keep you updated so stay tuned. -;)

When Life throws You A Lemon : Make Lemonade!

husbandandkids

You know the past couple of months, I've been dealing with an issue.  Late April, well the day of my Birth my husband ended up getting into a serious car accident. He was coming home from an event that night with his friends. It was also raining outside which did not help the fact at all that he had a couple of drinks. He ended up hitting a pothole, tried to over correct the steering wheel and ended up going head first into an oak tree. I woke early the next morning with phone calls coming in about my husband in the emergency room and that he has to go into surgery.

After I took myself a shower, packed the kids bags. I rushed over to my mother in laws house who just happen to stay  literally right down the street from the hospital that my husband was at. I can tell you one thing it helps to live close to a hospital, and have a mother in law who just retired.

However, I left the kids and went to the hospital to check on my husband and figure out what was going on.  To my surprise he was a little responsive which was a good thing, since usually in times like this I thought he would be freaking out, but he was managing even in spite of what he just went through.

After speaking to the doctors and my husband, who at this moment was still in the ER,  had a dislocated hip on the right side. The doctors had to pop it back in place. Although that was not all he also fractured his hip on that side and would have to go into surgery.

To cut the whole story short,  he spent a whole week in the hospital, in so much pain. Not able to walk or do anything for himself.  Mad at himself and at mad at the world.  My husband could have died that night along with his friend who was in the car. Who just happened to be wearing his seat belt.

He only suffered a broken hand and wrist.

Thank God for that, because man. I know he was looking out.

Ryan, came home from the hospital not able to walk or even able to bathe him self. He also has drop foot with some feeling. Not totally bad , but he will have to go through physical therapy.

To try to regain some of the nerve sensation back.

One thing I can say, is it has been a roller coaster of emotions and try to figure out what to do next. It really make you put things into perspective and realize that sometimes things will not always be a smooth riding roller coaster.  He is the main breadwinner in the family and having that taken away for awhile. Really make you buckle down and appreciate the simple things.  We had to cut out a lot things and really just get by.  With him home and until he gets better and able to actually able to walk again without the need of   crutches or a walker.

My kids will have to go to school for a least the next year  and not be home schooled. This is not a decision that has not been taken lightly with me because I love my kids staying home with me. However, I have to place them in school.

I did find a private school that follow the living books methodology and will be placing them there. Very small class size and I'm sure they will do fine.  As far as for  me I will be taking care of home the husband and focusing on my online ventures to help with the family expenses.

You know in life the saying.

If  life  throws you a lemon – make lemonade.

 ~Joan Collins

Well that is Indeed what I  plan to do.

P.S.

I hope you enjoyed the pic! We ended up taking the kids to beach for the week, on a family vacation trip. In which we get free 7 days to stay each year. I'll say it was just what the doctored ordered after all of this.
