how to buy natural beauty

With a boom in the recent years with a push towards healthy living and eating, there is an increase in people wanting to buy natural beauty products. Many want to have natural beauty products that are not bad on their skin and hope to heal certain aliments that might be bothering them. I know for fact that I have always tried to buy natural, mainly because I have had skin issues since I was a child.

Even to this day I still tend to have some, however now I am learning I might actually have a food allergy which could be contributing some of my own issues.

However for the rest of us, it  shouldn't take a degree in chemical engineering to be able to read a skin cleanser label. But with multi-syllable words and mystery chemicals, you don't really know what you are putting on your face and body when you use popular, commercial products. By choosing certified organic skin care products and handmade natural bath and body products, you can be confident in their origin, purpose and function.

At least that is what I have experienced in my natural beauty shopping. You still need to read the ingredients however and don't get fooled just because it says organic or natural ingredients.  Each person is unique and reacts differently to different formulas.  Especially when it comes to hair care,  no one person hair on their head is the same as the next persons.  In my household we have many different shampoos and conditioners because their are so many different variances in our kinky curly hair texture in my household.

If your a kinky hair girl, I'm sure you could relate.  😉

And, yet your delicate skin is the first line of defense against sun, pollution, wind, stress and germs. As the largest organ in your body, contributing 15% to 20% of your total body weight, it is easy to neglect your skin because it is so easy to take for granted. But your skin has many important jobs to do and it needs the proper nutrition and care to perform at its highest level.

Nutrition and care for skin comes from both the inside and the outside.

In addition to proper nutrition and exercise, sufficient sleep and plenty of water, your skin requires a daily regime that helps it regenerate and combat both internal and external factors. Natural organic skin care products can nourish your skin rather than stripping it of essential oils and introducing irritations such as fragrances, preservatives, harsh detergents and unnecessary chemicals.

Botanical's and purely organic ingredients perform the same functions as commercial detergents but with a simpler, gentler process.

Organic skin care uses natural, certified ingredients to work together in synergy to accomplish the same goals as commercial products without the harsh effects. But like I said earlier some of the smaller companies are not able to pay the fee to get certified organic on their labels, but many are just as good.  That is why it is good to do your research and stick to what I call the simple rule. Of making sure you understand the ingredients list and that it is down to very minimal ingredients.

Simple is always best, trust me a little can go a long way.

Organic natural handmade soap and cleansers gently remove make up, dirt, oils and pollution without stripping your skin. Natural fats and oils found in our body butters and organic lotions moisturize tone and protect the skin from sun, aging, wind and pollution. Organic face creams and body lotions serve a protective layer especially in sensitive areas such as the face and neck. Anti-aging antioxidants are naturally introduced.

And there is a limited  fear of sensitivity issues since organic ingredients are simple and pure. 😉

Your skin can not differentiate between good and bad chemicals. It indiscriminately absorbs whatever chemicals you slather on your face and body. By choosing Eco-friendly, natural organic body care products, you know that your skin is absorbing products rooted in nature and simply prepared by hand, with in the highest quality with the least chemical processes. And most of the time you can also be assured that no product will introduce a rash, irritation or allergic reaction because its ingredients are pure and natural.

And that is best thing we can do for our selves.

Read the first ingredient on the side of the container. By law, the list of ingredients must be listed in their order of concentrate. ( MEANING THE FIRST  ONE LISTED IS WHAT THE PRODUCT IS MOSTLY MADE UP OF.) This applies to food labels also. 😉

If you don’t recognize the names in the ingredients, do you really want to put it on your face?

Your skin can not differentiate between good and bad skin care products, but you can. Choose a holistic approach by utilizing organic body care and all natural skin care products for the purest and simplest choice.

Why I Love Modcloth (And You Should, Too!)

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure for more Info.

This past weekend hubby and I had a chance to take the kids to the local beach. It was not that far of a drive and not that much of a stretch to get there in his condition. We do have the Global Vacations plan that allows us to stay at certain hotels and resorts throughout the year for free and sometimes for a really low price. I love the program in fact we even get a free 7 days each year to stay anywhere in the country! Which is really cool! We used the plan to stay two weeks ago for about 4 days out on the beach with the kids.

I ended up leaving some clothes there in the washer and dryer and had to drive back out there to pick up my clothes, that is where the Global vacation kicked in and let us stay for the low, low!

Anyhow, I ended up having the chance to wear my vintage Swimsuit from ModCloth that I recently bought a while back. I'm not one for wearing cute one-piece swimsuits because let's face it, after 4 kids I did get a little self-conscious and always thinking about my body.  Then putting on a bathing suit was out of the picture unless I am able to feel classy and comfortable all at the same time!

That is why I love Vintage Modcloth swimsuits, I was able to find two retro vintage 50 style swimsuits! One is all black and one a sort of blue and plaid color as you see in the picture below.

Bathing Beauty One-Piece Swimsuit in Royal Plaid

Modcloth was simple to order from and if you have any measuring tape at home I highly recommend you measure yourself as they show here in the picture to get your correct measurements. If you do this one step when you do order you can do no wrong and will have no worries about the order not fitting.

They have a large variety of retro vintage swimsuits available in all sorts of sizes from plus to small

If you need any extra help when it comes to measuring here is a cool little video to show you how to do it.

They do have a return policy which is great! If something does not fit you have you are able to return it for only a 5.99 shipping fee. If you want to exchange it for something you are able to for free and get a 5.00 Credit towards your next purchase along with free shipping!

I love ModCloth everything, but especially their swimsuits for a girl like me, who likes to keep it simple classy Chic!

Do you like vintage-style swimsuits when you go to the beach, or do you even wear cute one-piece swimsuits for women at all?

I would love to know.

When Life throws You A Lemon : Make Lemonade!

You know the past couple of months, I've been dealing with an issue.  Late April, well the day of my Birth my husband ended up getting into a serious car accident. He was coming home from an event that night with his friends. It was also raining outside which did not help the fact at all that he had a couple of drinks. He ended up hitting a pothole, tried to over correct the steering wheel and ended up going head first into an oak tree. I woke early the next morning with phone calls coming in about my husband in the emergency room and that he has to go into surgery.

After I took myself a shower, packed the kids bags. I rushed over to my mother in laws house who just happen to stay  literally right down the street from the hospital that my husband was at. I can tell you one thing it helps to live close to a hospital, and have a mother in law who just retired.

However, I left the kids and went to the hospital to check on my husband and figure out what was going on.  To my surprise he was a little responsive which was a good thing, since usually in times like this I thought he would be freaking out, but he was managing even in spite of what he just went through.

After speaking to the doctors and my husband, who at this moment was still in the ER,  had a dislocated hip on the right side. The doctors had to pop it back in place. Although that was not all he also fractured his hip on that side and would have to go into surgery.

To cut the whole story short,  he spent a whole week in the hospital, in so much pain. Not able to walk or do anything for himself.  Mad at himself and at mad at the world.  My husband could have died that night along with his friend who was in the car. Who just happened to be wearing his seat belt.

He only suffered a broken hand and wrist.

Thank God for that, because man. I know he was looking out.

Ryan, came home from the hospital not able to walk or even able to bathe him self. He also has drop foot with some feeling. Not totally bad , but he will have to go through physical therapy.

To try to regain some of the nerve sensation back.

One thing I can say, is it has been a roller coaster of emotions and try to figure out what to do next. It really make you put things into perspective and realize that sometimes things will not always be a smooth riding roller coaster.  He is the main breadwinner in the family and having that taken away for awhile. Really make you buckle down and appreciate the simple things.  We had to cut out a lot things and really just get by.  With him home and until he gets better and able to actually able to walk again without the need of   crutches or a walker.

My kids will have to go to school for a least the next year  and not be home schooled. This is not a decision that has not been taken lightly with me because I love my kids staying home with me. However, I have to place them in school.

I did find a private school that follow the living books methodology and will be placing them there. Very small class size and I'm sure they will do fine.  As far as for  me I will be taking care of home the husband and focusing on my online ventures to help with the family expenses.

You know in life the saying.

If  life  throws you a lemon – make lemonade.

Well that is Indeed what I  plan to do.

P.S.

I hope you enjoyed the pic! We ended up taking the kids to beach for the week, on a family vacation trip. In which we get free 7 days to stay each year. I'll say it was just what the doctored ordered after all of this.

The Many Health Benefits Of Raw Honey: Why I love it!

 raw honey health benefits

Good O'l sweet raw honey is mostly known for its natural sweetness, to the point that you could pretty much place it and substitute it  for any regular sweetener that you have on hand. It does have a sweeter taste than regular table sugar which is why much less is used in cooking recipes. I do find it quite remarkable however that honey even in the smallest amount is sweeter than most table sugar.

But not at all bad for you.

If used in its raw form and correct way the benefits of eating raw organic honey can go a long way.

Of course there is a whole lot more that honey can do for you besides make your food taste good.

Check out these 7 amazing health benefits that raw honey can do for you!

In order to get the most health benefits out of honey you will have to use it in its raw form,  When honey is cooked it breaks down all the chemical properties, or as I would say all the good stuff that is beneficial for you. I tend to get my honey from a local farmers market and I also order mine straight from the beekeeper.

I recommend that you do the same.

Not processed at all!

It doesn't get any fresher than that.

When honey is processed all the antibacterial, nourishing, viral agents of honey are gone.

If your into honey for fertility reason,  raw royal bee  jelly honey is great for increasing fertility in women with reproductive trouble. Check out this article here by the fertility shop it gives some really great information on the topic.. Its really interesting.

If you wanna try out some great honey at a discounted price you can find it Here TOO!

Honey is great for treating lots of ailments – both internally and externally.  Some of my favorite include:

Sore throat and cough. Take a teaspoon of raw honey and mix into a warm glass of water, drink over a period of 5 minutes. This will help coat your throat and sooth the cough. You can take as often as every half hour to relieve the symptoms.

High cholesterol and blood pressure. Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, a teaspoon of raw honey and in a glass of warm water to make an elixir that will lower blood pressure and cholesterol. Make this part of your routine and drink a glass each morning for the best results.

Arthritis relief. Honey is believed to help with the pain of rheumatoid arthritis. You can take a teaspoon full of raw honey by mouth or mix with warm water to get pain relief. This should be taken daily.

Indigestion. Honey is great for calming your stomach if you’re feeling nauseated or have heartburn or indigestion. Mix together a teaspoon of honey with one teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Sip this slowly. This can be repeated several times throughout the day.

Weight loss. A promising treatment for obesity is drinking a glass of water mixed with one teaspoon each of raw honey and apple cider vinegar three times a day. This concoction is said to help clear the fat cells in your body, resulting in weight loss.

Heals wounds. Honey is a natural antiseptic which can disinfect scrapes, cuts, burns or infections. Place raw, unprocessed honey on a bandaid, gauze strip or clean cloth and put directly over the affected area.

Facial wash. Take a bit of honey on your fingers and rub all around your face in small circles. Be sure to work into problems areas, such as around your nose and forehead. Leave this on your face for about 10 minutes and wash off warm water and clean cloth. Pat your face dry and see the glow on your skin!

So tell me, what are some ways that  you like to use raw organic honey?
