I wanted to continue with the next installment of our family trip to Savannah, Ga, and show you some cool things to do in Savannah if you ever decide to visit. Most of my family was here except for my oldest son Ryan, he’s almost 21 and is at that age where he feels that family trips are just not that fun to him.
Although, I feel once he gets a little older he will appreciate these close family outings even though it’s currently pulling at my heartstrings. Those of us who decided to come on the trip were my husband and me, and my three sons Jordan, Devin, and Austin. These boys aren’t little anymore and sometimes it’s hard to appease them with fun things to do in historic cities.
On a side note, did you know that traveling with kids can build up their confidence by helping them psychologically and also physically by giving them the tools to develop patience and express gratitude?
You can read more about this in this Forbes article.
THE BEST HOTEL IN SAVANNAH, GA HANDS DOWN!
Traveling to Savannah with Kids was not the first thing on my list to take the kids to. In fact, my husband and I were going to go alone but decided to make it into a family trip. Where we could learn some things ourselves and why not show the kids. The hotel that we stayed at was the historic Desto Hotel in downtown Savannah, GA.
If you like a quick room tour of the room read this post to see the inside scoop of The Desoto! —-> THE DESTO HOTEL SAVANNAH
Originally built in the late 1800s and then torn down to be rebuilt again in the late 1960s. The Hilton Desoto Savannah is one of the most lovely hotels in the city and is truly a gem. It has the updated elegance of modern hotels and the old-school charm of a boutique hotel in the city of Savannah, Ga.
In the room, we had two full queens and we bought one air – mattress and the boys took turns sleeping on each night. We could have invested in a suite, but we wanted to be right downtown and close to everything.

This is the self-inflating air mattress we used since it has a built-in plug to blow up and easily deflate. —> Click here to see this Twin Air Mattress.
The parking is not that great there, but they do have valet service and people to take your luggage upstairs for you. I just used my boys since I do have plenty of them. As you can see in the Tiktok video below my boys are taking up all the luggage.

Soon as we got there before we could even get settled in my husband and I decided to go up to the gym and get a quick workout in. The fitness room and pool area are on the second level of the DeSoto. Be sure to bring your key with you because you will need that to open the gym door and get back to your room.
We made the mistake of leaving our key in the gym and had to call for assistance to get it back. lol
THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN SAVANNAH, GA.
Once everyone was settled in we were able to go and grab some dinner at one of the best burger spots in Savannah, Ga called B & D’s. I’ve had some great burgers in my life and this place did not disappoint! The burgers and everything were on point all the way around the board. The one we went to in Savannah is located right downtown and close to everything, in fact, we could walk there if we really wanted to.
B & D’s restaurant in Savannah, Ga has a great night atmosphere and an outside area and upstairs bar where you can watch sports and they even put on shows for the kids and games.
Truly a gem in the heart of Savannah, Ga.
The next place we were able to eat in Savannah, Ga was a place called Fannies by the beach on Tybee Island. This place is located right on the beach and is about 30 minutes out from The Hotel Desoto. I’m glad we chose to stay at this hotel because it is central to pretty much everything all around Savannah, Ga. This restaurant in Savannah had a good variety of things from oysters, to chicken quesadillas and some kid-friendly items.
I would not give them five stars, but they do have some decent beach food that is right by the water for easy access.
FUN THINGS TO DO ON TYBEE ISLAND!
One of the last stops we did on our full day in Savannah, Ga took a drive out to Tybee Island! The drive was not that long and it only took about 30 min. In fact, here’s a map of Tybee island if you want to look at the area of the land.
Once we got to Tybee Island Savannah we walked around the pier and the boys were able to fish off the dock while we mingled with the locals. Tybee island is full of great restaurants in the area along with a ton of Tybee Island Hotels and Tybee Island Ga resorts that you can stay at. In fact, they even have one of the best hotels on Tybee island called The Desoto.
We had a great time at Tybee Island in fact the beach was quite beautiful coming from a Florida girl, we know our beaches. I was greatly impressed.
We really enjoyed ourselves on our first full day in Savannah, Ga. In fact stay tuned for part two of our Savannah, Ga Trip!

THINGS TO BRING ON TRIPS!
Traveling can be fun and better traveling as a family can sometimes be demanding here are some of my favorite things to bring on trips.
For sure one thing I have to have is my Travel duffle bag when I’m traveling. These bags are great for traveling or even being used solely as a gym bag I love them!
Of course, as you know from up above we love to bring a self-inflating air mattress with us every time we travel.
Third I love to bring with me are cords that everyone can use for charging their phones and a cell phone charging station to take in the hotel that we can just plug into.
You can take a look at one of the best cell phone charging stations I like to use.
Make no mistake we had a great time during the first full day in Savannah, Ga. Tell me have you been yet to Savannah and what are some cool things in Savannah that you have done?
